-She gave up her beaded belt so that Lewis and Clark could trade for a fur coat for President Jefferson.
-She had to carry "pompy" her child on a board strapped to her back while they explored
-When the expedition became freezing and harder to get food, the group was forced to eat candles to survive
-Sacagawea traveled 5,000 miles (10,000 km) with her infant son.
-Her name in the Shoshone language means "Bird Woman" and in Hidatsa "Boat Launcher".
